On 13 May 2020, the European Commission announced the publication of “Interoperability guidelines for approved contact tracing mobile applications in the EU“.
The guidelines set out the common principles to ensure tracing apps can communicate with each other when required, so citizens only have to use one app to report a positive test or to receive an alert.
