On 1 September 2020, the Romanian DPA announced a fine of EUR 500 was imposed against an association of owners for unlawful disclosure of a data subject’s image collected through the video surveillance system of the association of owners.
Two warnings were also applied to the association of owners for lack of measures implemented to ensure the protection of data collected through the video surveillance system and for incomplete information provided to data subjects on the processing on their data in this context.
The following corrective measures were also applied to the association of owners:
- adopt technical and organizational measures for ensuring data protection, including by allowing a limited number of persons to have access to the video recordings;
- inform the data subjects according to Article 13 and 14 of GDPR, by posting the information near the places where the video surveillance system is installed;
