European Commission announces a regulation proposal on data governance

On 25 November 2020, the European Commission released a new regulation proposal on data governance, as a part of the measures the European Commission announced in the 2020 European strategy for data.

The European Commission pointed out that the aim of the new regulation is to facilitate data sharing across the EU and between sectors to increase control and trust of both citizens and companies regarding their data, and to offer an alternative European model to data handling practice of major tech platforms.
