On 12 July 2024, the Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union as Regulation (EU) 2024/1689.

According to the legislative processes, the AI Act will officially enter into force 20 days from the date of publication.
The regulation will mainly become applicable after 2 years as of the entry into force, with certain exceptions.
Amongst such exceptions, the following provisions will become applicable in 6 months as of the entry into force of the AI Act:
- the prohibition of using AI systems with unacceptable risk, and
- the application the obligation to ensure the AI literacy.
