ICO releases its investigation report on the use of mobile phone extraction by police forces

On 18 June 2020, the UK DPA (ICO) published its findings on the use of mobile phone extraction (MBE) by police forces when conducting criminal investigations in England and Wales.
In short, the ICO found that excessive amounts of personal data are often extracted and stored following the MBE practice, without an appropriate legal basis.
