On 4 March 2020, the Advocate General Szpunar issued his opinion on a case between the Romanian Data Protection Authority and a telecommunication services provider.
The Advocate General concluded that, under the circumstances described by the referring court, the customers of the telecommunication services provider did “not give their free, specific and informed consent”.
