The recommendations focus on identifying an appropriate legal basis, ensuring purpose limitation and data minimization, informing employees, and performing a data protection impact assessment (DPIA).
Among others, the guidance highlights that vehicle tracking should not be used for the general monitoring of staff that employers should not regard vehicle tracking as a method to track or monitor the behavior or the whereabouts of drivers or other staff.
