CNIL issues guidance on the erasure of data of deceased persons

On 28 October 2020, the French DPA (“CNIL”) issued guidance on the erasure of personal data of deceased persons with regards to social network accounts.

The guidance focuses on how to handle the social network accounts of the deceased persons. In addition, the guidance covers whether the relatives of the deceased persons are able to access or to request the controller to delete the account and what procedures should be followed in this regard.
