Following its 43rd Plenary session, the EDPB published the Strategy for 2021-2023, which sets out the EDPB’s strategic objectives, grouped around four pillars, namely advancing harmonization and facilitating compliance, supporting effective enforcement and efficient cooperation between national supervisory authorities, a fundamental rights approach to new technologies, and the global dimension.
In particular, to what concerns data transfers, the Strategy highlights that the EDPB aims to set and promote high EU and global standards for international data transfers to third countries in both private and public sector, including the law enforcement sector. In this respect, among others, the EDPB is determined to promote the use of transfer tools ensuring an essentially equivalent level of protection and increase awareness on their practical implementation.
