On 17 February 2022, during its second official meeting, the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre soon to be located in Bucharest, has elected the Chair of the Governing board. Moreover, the Governing Board published its newly ratified list of National Coordination Centres, which were appointed by each Member State (in Romania: “Centrul Național de Coordonare”).
An important role of both the ECCC and the Network of National Coordination Centres, apart from strengthening European cybersecurity capacities, will be to manage the funding dedicated to cybersecurity from the Digital Europe Programme and Horizon Europe, as well as from the Member States. The Digital Europe Programme cyber call will open on 22 February and it will involve a specific investment of EUR 55 million dedicated to the deployment of National Coordination Centres.
Other points of discussion involved matters relating to the establishment and the priorities of the ECCC and the Network of National Coordination Centres.
