Roxana Ionescu – Speaker at GoTech World 2021

The 10-year anniversary edition of GoTech World, the largest IT & Digital business event in Central & Eastern Europe, took place on 10-11 November 2021.

The theme of this year’s event was „Revive. Rise. Accelerate the future”. The conference brought together over 130 international and national speakers, who delivered presentations on 9 content-packed stages.

Roxana Ionescu, Partner and Head of NNDKP’s Data Protection practice, joined the speakers on the Cybersecurity stage, on the second day of the conference (11 November), when she delivered a presentation entitled: „The wind of change – cybersecurity regulations receive a boost with the proposed NIS 2 Directive”.

Roxana talked about the current legal framework in the field, focusing on the implementation of the NIS 1 directive and the changes that are coming under the proposed NIS 2 Directive, such as the significant extension of the scope of NIS 1 directive through the addition of new sectors, classified as either essential or important.

Here is what you need to do if NIS 2 will apply to you:

  • coordinate with your DPO, HR and PR teams – you may not fall under NIS 1, but GDPR notification requirements are broader
  • check the rules adopted under NIS 1, it is likely they will be maintained and extended under NIS 2
  • follow the negotiations on NIS 2
  • check your supply chains – you may need to assess their cybersecurity preparedness
  • start assessing your budgetary and manpower needs now

The other stages where tech experts across the globe shared their knowledge and experience were: Main Stage, Business Transformation Stage, IT OPS Stage, DEV Ops Stage, Java Stage, Retail & E-commerce Stage, Digital Marketing Stage, Smart City Stage.

The event brought together over 15000 members of the business community and over 5000 companies, and offered access to more than 60 hours of content.

Participants also had access to the virtual Expo Area, where over 60 exhibitors presented their virtual company booths and their projects.
