On 6 January 2021, the Technology and Privacy Unit of the European Data Protection Supervisor (“EDPS”) published a blog post containing a brief report on Personal Information Management Systems (“PIMS”), aiming to provide a factual description of this emerging technology and discuss its possible impacts on privacy and the protection of personal data.
This brief report offers a detailed explanation of PIMS’ impact on various data protection issues, such as data protection by design and by default, consent management, transparency and traceability, data subjects’ rights, data accuracy, and interoperability, as well as data security.
