04.09.2020

On 2 September 2020, the UK’s DPA (ICO UK) announced the Age Appropriate Design Code has come into force, with a 12-month transition period for organizations to ensure their services meet this code’s standards.

In assisting organizations’ compliance efforts, the ICO has launched the Children’s Code hub. In addition, the ICO plans to host a series of webinars addressed to the gaming, video streaming, social media, and connected toys sectors.

After Brexit, the code will apply to services established in the EEA who are targeting UK users in the same way as to services established outside the EEA.

The press release is available here, and the hub is available here.
